Nexus Delta Pick and Place Robot

The Nexus delta pick and place robot is a self-contained, enclosed robot station that sits over a conveyor and picks small, light products at high speed. It places them into a flow wrapper infeed, a tray, a carton or a conveyor lane, so the line no longer depends on staff loading by hand.

How it works

A delta robot hangs inside the enclosed frame with three lightweight arms joined to a single end effector. The motors stay fixed in the base, so the arms can accelerate and stop much faster than an articulated robot arm. A sensor or camera finds each product on the moving belt, the robot tracks it, picks it with a vacuum cup or gripper and places it in the target position.

What it can pick

• Primary packaging: bars, biscuits, pastries, bags, pouches, sachets and bottles
• Secondary packaging: loading products into trays, boxes and cartons
• Counting several items into a pack with a multi-pick head

Built as a complete enclosed unit

Nexus specifies the robot, gripper, conveyor tracking and guarding together as one system. The guarded enclosure has viewing windows, an access door and an operator touch screen, and the robot starts and stops with the wrapper, cartoner or filler it feeds through the line controller. Grippers are matched to your product and can be swapped through a quick-release coupling when you change products.

Where it fits

Typical jobs in food and consumer packaging are feeding a flow wrapper on a bakery or confectionery line, placing portions into trays, and loading sachets, blister packs or tubes into cartons. For heavier loads at the end of the line, a cobot palletiser is the better fit.
