Why a laminate instead of a single film

A single-layer film such as BOPP is clear, strong and cheap, but its barrier to oxygen, moisture and light is limited. A laminate adds the layers that a product needs: a PET outer for print and stiffness, a foil or metallised layer for barrier, and a PE inner that heat-seals cleanly on the machine. That is why powders that cake, oils that go rancid, coffee that loses aroma and pharmaceutical sachets all run on laminated film.
