How a premade pouch machine works

Premade pouches are loaded flat into a magazine. The rotary system takes one pouch at a time, opens it with suction cups or air, and carries it through a series of stations: fill, optional second fill or nitrogen flush, seal and cool. Because the pouch is already printed and formed, the machine does not need a film reel or forming collar, and changeover between pouch sizes is a matter of adjusting the grippers and recalling the recipe.

Premade pouch machines versus forming your own

Pouch packing machines of this type fill pouches that arrive ready-made and printed, so the pack shape and print quality are fixed before the product reaches the line. That suits producers who want strong retail presentation without the film-forming complexity of a form fill seal machine, and it keeps changeover simple across a range of pouch sizes. Small bag filling machines

A small bag filling machine is the same equipment specified for lighter fills, typically 20 g to 500 g, in stand-up pouches or flat bags. The dual auger stand-up pouch machine covers powders at this size, and the rotary pouch machine covers liquids and granules. For very small single-serve formats, a sachet packing machine or a stick pack machine that forms the pack from film is usually cheaper per unit.

Output

Rotary premade pouch machines run continuously at rates set by pouch size and product, from around 20 to 60 pouches per minute on typical formats. Semi-automatic machines run at operator pace. After filling, pouches can move to a labelling machine or a thermal transfer printer for date and batch codes, then to a cobot palletiser at the end of the line.
