How a liquid filling machine works

Containers are presented to the filling heads, where a measured dose of liquid is dispensed into each one using the chosen filling method. The fill volume is controlled by pump displacement, weight, level or flow measurement depending on the system, giving consistent, repeatable fills before the containers move on for capping and labelling.

Choosing the right liquid filler

The best filling method depends on the viscosity and behaviour of your liquid:

• Thin, free-flowing liquids such as water, juices and spirits: overflow or gravity fillers give a clean, level fill.
• Medium-viscosity liquids such as oils, sauces and shampoos: servo piston fillers give accurate volumetric dosing.
• Thick or particulate liquids such as creams, pastes and chunky sauces: rotary lobe pump fillers move heavier product without damage.
• High-value or regulated liquids: mass or magnetic flow meters give the most accurate fill by volume.
